How to Fix Doors - Part 2
18/08/2008

The other main problem with doors is when they won’t stay closed within the door frame. This door problem is fairly easy to solve when you know how. In order to carry out some of this work you will need to prepare the door. This information is available in How to Fix Doors – Part 3. Once the door is prepare to be worked on (removal of door handle) there are several options. You can apply WD-40 to the door handle. You can either spray this on to the door directly using the nozzle supplied or spray some WD-40 on to a spoon and apply it to the door yourself with a cotton swab. Another possibility is that the spring may need to be replaced. You will need a fairly large hardware store to find a replacement spring for your door, you will also need to know the size of the witch which it relative to the door. If neither of these is the problem with your door then the bolt may have worn out. This is the most difficult door problem to solve. In this case it is best to go to a locksmith or door specialist and they will come and fix the door on site and change the entire mechanism.
