Technical Information

Door Cores

Standard Core - A multi cell or spacer pad core for light duty, non fire rated applications.  Suitable for domestic use.

Semi Solid Core -  Adds additional weight to the standard 35mm door.

This specification is optional on certain moulded panel doors in sizes and styles shown on our website.

Solid Core -  Made up of a solid core material in standard thickness doors.

Fire Doors - A high density core material which requires no timber framing.

When correctly installed, with suitable intumescent strips, provides certified fire resistance.

A similar construction is used on moulded panel doors.

Note.  The minimum screw size for fixing hinges to the door is 50mm x size 8 (4mm) fully threaded.

Framed Fire Doors - Similar high density core to our fire doors, but surrounded with substantial framing.

When correctly installed, with suitable intumescent strips, provides certified fire resistance.

NB. Actual core construction may vary between product ranges at our option.

Lock Blocks - Internal Doors

Doors have a single lock block, normally 360mm (H) x 80mm (W) (+/- 15mm).

Markings on the TOP of the door indicate the correct side for fixing.

On veneered doors the lock block is positioned centrally along the door height.

On moulded doors the TOP of the lock block is 880mm from the TOP of the door.

Pair Makers

When fitting pair makers a 12mm gap should allowed between the meeting edges of the doors.

Allowing for 2mm clearance at the door jamb add 16mm to the door widths for the correct aperture size.

eg. 2 x 610mm doors = 1220mm, + 12mm for pair maker  = 1232mm, + 2 x 2mm door jamb clearance = 1236mm aperture.
